History of Christmas Ornaments

The custom of decorating a tree for Christmas began way back in Germany. They used to add fruits and nuts to trees once the leaves fell off to symbolize the promise of spring to return. In the Year 1605, a fur tree was brought inside home and decorated with nuts, fruits, candles and paper roses etc. It was something very new and innovative for the society and this idea took off and spread across Germany.

In the Nineteenth century, German immigrants brought the tradition to America. The Americans gave it their personal touch with lot more new inventions. Early ornaments were made out of whatever items were available to them at home like apple fruits, nuts, strings of popcorn and cranberries, paper streamers, candles, and metal foil. Today, this whole idea is spread all over the world with lots of new experiments  in  different  countries while a whole new industry is set up to fulfill this demand of Christmas ornaments and decorations.
